Wildlife Biology Internship – BLM Kanab Field Office

Position Type: Internship- up to 2 positions available

Wage: 13.50/hour DOE

Location: Kanab Utah

 

Description:

The intern selected for this position will have a variety of opportunities to conduct inventory and monitoring of rangeland resources, including weeds, and range conditions and working with a wide variety of natural resource, cultural resource, and Government employees. This position may require some limited work on the weekends and limited overnight camping. The intern selected for this position will have a variety of opportunities to be mentored in the following skill set with qualified survey crews and a Certified Wildlife Biologist.

  1. Conduct inventory and monitoring of wildlife resources, including raptors, guzzlers, wildlife habitat improvement projects,
  2. Monitor range conditions and working with a wide variety of natural resource, cultural resource, and Government employees.
  3. Additional duties include: assisting with planning Youth outreach events, working with the public in education and outreach programs,

This Internship is based at the Kanab Field Office in Kanab, UT:

Qualifications:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Some knowledge in one or more of the following areas is helpful but not required; biology, physical science, botany
  • Some outdoor experience preferred

The availability of housing in Kanab is limited, the selected intern will be responsible to find their own housing.

Applicants who possess these skills and who are pursuing a degree in fields related to Wildlife Biology will be given greatest consideration.
