Location: Kaibab National Forest – Jacob Lake, Arizona

THIS INTERNSHIP IS LOCATED AT JACOB LAKE ARIZONA WITH THE KAIBAB NATIONAL FOREST

Description: Visitor Services – serves the developed recreation programs. Work primarily involves staffing a visitor center, working with youth corps, may include trail work, facility cleaning and maintenance, developing educational programming, operating a government vehicle, working occasional nights, weekends.

Housing: Shared government housing is provided at the Jacob Lake work center, 30 miles south of Fredonia, AZ. Housing is for FS staff and interns only, no pets, guests, or family are permitted. This is a remote duty station and the closest communities are Fredonia, AZ and Kanab, Utah.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate with diverse groups, answer repeated questions and offer pertinent advice regarding the Kaibab Plateau and surrounding area.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work on a team with a flexible schedule.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • An interest in recreation, natural resources, land management, or similar subjects.
