Recreation Technician Internship – Bureau of Land Management, Kanab Field Office

Position Type: Internship—up to 3 positions available

Wage: 13.50/hour DOE

Location: Kanab, Utah

Description:

This internship is based at the Kanab Field Office in Kanab, Utah:

Assist the BLM Recreation Team in wilderness monitoring, facility operations, backcountry patrols, trail maintenance, and visitor services. Work will focus on projects including hiking and vehicle patrols, campground and trailhead maintenance, visitor services, trail work, site clean-up, public outreach events, and other duties as assigned. This position may require working on holidays and weekends.

Qualifications:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate with diverse groups
  • Knowledge of outdoor recreation and/or natural resource management is helpful but not required
  • Outdoor experience is preferred

 

Applicants who possess these skills and who are pursuing a degree in fields related to Outdoor Recreation in Parks and Tourism, and Natural Resources will be given greatest consideration.

The availability of housing in Kanab is limited. The selected interns will be responsible for finding their own housing.
