Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician- Kaibab National Forest

Wage: $13.00 – $14.00 hour DOE

Location: Kaibab National Forest – Jacob Lake, Arizona

Description:

THIS INTERNSHIP IS BASED AT THE KAIBAB NATIONAL FOREST IN JACOB LAKE, AZ

GIS Technician – will utilize Garmin and/or Trimble handheld GPS units to record point and line data, ground truth motorized vehicle use map, enter and maintain spatial data in GIS.

Housing: Shared government housing is provided at the Jacob Lake work center, 30 miles south of Fredonia, AZ. Housing is for FS staff and interns only, no pets, guests, or family are permitted. This is a remote duty station and the closest communities are Fredonia, AZ and Kanab, Utah.

Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge using handheld GPS units.
  • Ability to work independently and operate a government vehicle.
  • Experience and knowledge reading maps and maintaining spatial data.
  • Experience and knowledge working with GIS systems, i.e. ArcMap.
