Commercial Services Planning/Administration – NPS – Zion National Park

Position Type: Summer Visitor Use Management Intern

Wage:  $12.74 / Hour

Position Schedule: 40 hours/week, weekends required, May 1- August 19

Location: Zion National Park, Springdale, UT 84767

Description: Incumbent serves as a Commercial Services Planning / Administration intern within the Zion Office of Commercial Services and Partnerships and Zion Division of Administration. Position includes the following responsibilities:

Commercial Services Planning:

  • Collecting, analyzing, and reporting use and parking data for Commercial Tour Buses. Communicating park messaging to tour bus operators in the field.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and reporting trail use data for Commercial Interpretive Hiking Tours.
  • Assisting with additional data collection needs as required.
  • Assisting with traffic control and other visitor use management duties on busy weekends.



  • Assisting with the administration of government owned property.
  • Assisting with data entry and data management.
  • Providing general administrative support as assigned.


No housing is available for this position.



Qualifications: All are welcome to apply. Consideration will be given to applicants that have good customer service and interpersonal skills, enjoy working with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds, possess good organizational skills, are detail oriented, and have a proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Applicants that possess these skills and who are pursuing a degree in fields related to parks and recreation management, economics, environmental studies, and transportation engineering will be given strongest consideration.

ALL IIC INTERNSHIPS ARE REQUIRED TO BE TIED TO THE EARNING OF AN ACADEMIC CREDIT. Credits can be EDGE projects, departmental internships, cooperative education, practicums, assignments, research, etc.
