THIS INTERNSHIP IS BASED AT the BLM Cedar City Field Office

Currently, the BLM Cedar City Field Office (CCFO) has 1 Cadastral Survey Aide (Seasonal) position available in the Cedar City Field Office that will be hired through the Intergovernmental Internship Cooperative (IIC) through Southern Utah University (SUU).  Please stop by the Intergovernmental Internship Cooperative (IIC) office at SUU and complete the Intergovernmental Internship Cooperative (IIC) Internship Application and complete prior to applying.

The focus will be directed primarily towards the survey/resurvey of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS), recovering monuments set between 1870 and 2015.

Term of Employment:

40 hours/week (14 weeks – May – August 15) and possible extension 20 hours/week (August 16 – October 15)

Field Work Includes

  • Riding an ATV
  • Hiking in remote areas
  • Heavy lifting of rocks
  • Digging holes for new monuments
  • Operating a GNSS GPS

Office Work Includes

  • Computations of points using various programs
  • Studying and identifying points on survey plats
  • Interpretation of original field notes

Work Load

  • Field Work – 90%
  • Office Work – 10%
