Archaeology Technician-Dixie National Forest

THIS INTERNSHIP IS BASED AT Dixie National Forest, Supervisor’s Office:

The Dixie National Forest Heritage Program is hiring Archaeological Technicians for the 2018 summer field season. The interns will be working in a small group to perform archaeological surveys, record and monitor sites, and assist with outreach events. The internship includes working across southern Utah in low elevation deserts, high altitude meadows, and everything in between. A successful applicant is comfortable working in the outdoors, enjoys working with a team, and has an interest in Archaeology/History/Preservation. Most of the intern’s time will be spent in the field, however some work is in an office setting.  A background in archaeology is not required, an eager attitude to learn and see new things is highly suggested.

Housing is not provided


Field Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of how to care for yourself and others in the outdoors
  2. Experience operating a 4 wheel drive truck
  3. Comfortable working in remote areas with a small group of people
  4. Capable of quickly adapting to changing plans and priorities

Office Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  2. Database entry and recording
  3. Knowledge of ESRI GIS software products (preferred but not required)
